A question that usually comes from the inexperienced beginner or a person that has only trained with sticks.
This question has constantly been brought up to both myself and my late Instructor. It’s answer includes further questioning and explaining to oneself, many variables that different weapons can produce, that only training research and practice can answer for each different individual. These variables include distances, weights, and hence, strength needed in the use of various weapons. Through practice, the timing of the one weapon and fighter must combine. The psychological aspects of being comfortable to manipulate many types of weapons, which is done through training and also being able to use a said weapon, to strike another person.
Quite simply, the answer to these questions is in the training and then from a neutral vantage or view, determining the advantages and disadvantages or pro’s and con’s, that different weapons can give or take away, for oneself.
The Questions Within Multi-Weapons are….
Distances. Weapon Lengths. Bridging/Maintaining the Gap. Weapon Weights. The Individual Persons Strength. The Individual Persons Ability in Manipulation of single and double weapons. Body Timing Co-Ordination. The Individual Persons Psychological aspects.
